SUCCESS BEGINS WITH SUPPORT

The easiest way to join is by reaching out to your local EMS department and asking for an application. Agencies may help cover tuition to obtain your EMT certification in return for a period of service after you're certified. We also have a job board on this website that shows which departments are actively searching for candidates.

Protest With Signs

Speak up and make your voice be heard. Share your opinion whether EMS should be designated as an essential service. Reach-out to your state and local representatives and explain why you feel the way you do and how their actions will affect you and your rural community. EMS is often forgotten until the moment you need it.

EDUCATE

There are several common misconceptions when EMS funding is discussed. Not all agencies bill, typically the transporting agency is who bills. The non-transport agency doesn't receive any of those funds. However, even if they bill, insurance reimbursements don't cover the cost to provide 24/7 coverage 365 days a year. Hospitals generally expect that EMS operates in the red.
